ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Defence (MoD) has requested the apex court to review the adverse observations and negative declaratory remarks to the extent of Armed Forces and the directions to the respective chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Force of Pakistan to initiate action against personnel under their command who are found to have violated their oath.
The apex court on 21-11-2017 had taken a suo motu notice under Article 184(3) of Constitution regarding dharna (sit-in) at the Faizabad Interchange that virtually locked down Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and caused a huge traffic problem for the people of twin cities. The Supreme Court judgement authored by Justice Qazi Faez Isa had given findings against the intelligence agencies, including Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Military Intelligence (MI), and the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), political parties PTI and MQM and PEMRA, Election Commission of Pakistan.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM), Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed and Intelligence Bureau have already filed review petitions against the Faizabad sit-in case judgement.
