[Daily Times 25 November 2019] The 36th death anniversary of Pakistan’s famous film singer Salim Raza is being observed today (Nov 25).  Salim Raza was born on March 4,1932 in east Punjab. After partition he shifted to Lahore from where he started singing from radio Pakistan.

His career started from his song in film Naukar. Salim Raza’s famous songs are ‘Yarroun Mujhe Maaf Rakho, Main Nashay Main Hun, Zindagi Main Ek Pal Bhi Chain Aye Na, Jahan Bharay rashk e chaman, Kahin do dil jo mil jatay, Husan ko chand jawani ko kanwal kehty hain, Ye naaz ye andaaz ye jadu ye nighain, Mere dil ki anjuman main and most popular Naat ‘Shah-e-Madina’.

Raza’s career suffered due to the rise of singer Ahmed Rushdi in the late 1950s. He left playback singing in 1966 as he lost his popularity with the film composers and shifted to Canada where he died in 1983.
